Albion Falls – Hamilton, ON

So yesterday I decided to try out my ND filter at Albion Falls. Shooting HDR has made me a bit lazy when it comes to mastering the filter because normally I can adjust the lighting in post. However, I made the decision yesterday NOT to shoot HDR but to shoot long exposure shots and see where the filter\shutter speed\Aperture needed to be to get that silky smooth water AND have enough light to see the rocks. That was more challenging than I thought.

In the end I cheated a bit. I used 2 exposures and blended them together in CS6 using one of the blending modes (either lighter or screen…I don’t remember). Then I tweaked it a bit in Lightroom. I think it turned out pretty good all things considered.
