Stephen Kings Typewriter?

We had a great weekend with my good friend Rick Sammon and his wife Susan when they came to Southern Ontario for a two day workshop. Rick spent the first day giving a very inspiring photo-essay of his favorite images as well as a brilliant Speed Lite class. It’s amazing what you can do with a single light.
Day two was even more fun. We headed back to the wrecking yard (see previous photos) and taught an HDR class. We were in for a nice bonus when our model from Saturday agreed to join us on Sunday. The class loved being able to practice shooting on-scene model photography. The weather even cooperated.
At the junk yard, I noticed this typewriter piled into one of the rusting car shells. I had to grab a shot. I think it has a cool, spooky look to it. Kind of fitting as we come up on Halloween.
Have a great week everyone. I hope you’rs starts as well as mine ended.
Cheltenham Badlands – Caledon, ON

Morning everyone. This is a crazy week so a lot of post and go this week I’m afraid. However I wanted to share this picture of the Cheltenham Badlands. It’s a bizarre place – erosion due to poor farming practices in the past exposed all the shale formations under the soil. It looks like the surface of mars only with annoyingly green weeds and ugly trees. I decided to leave them out of the frame and just concentrate on the ground.
Special thanks to new friend Kevin Pepper who invited me along. Kevin is working with my good buddy Rick Sammon on a very cool trip to Catatumbo Lightning expedition in Venezuela. I really need to save up for that trip. How freakin cool is that??
Lonely Day in St. Augustine – St. Augustine, FL

I guess I have a thing for oceans, beaches and piers. Not uncommon I guess, that’s a pretty typical type of picture. Common or not there is just something almost mystical about an empty pier stretching out into the vast unknown.
That or I just like an excuse to go see a nice sunrise.
This shot was taken last year as part of Rick Sammon’s Florida Photo Caravan. I’ve mentioned it before but if you get a chance to take a class with Rick, it’s a great opportunity. I don’t get paid for that endorsement
(though hey Rick feel free lol).
